"At the Expense of the Many"

Originally shared by MarijuanaDoctors.com

"At the Expense of the Many"
Cannabis is one of the safest substances known to man and provides plenty of medical benefits. While the masses would most definitely benefit from a legal marijuana system, there are some entities that are wholeheartedly against the legalization initiative.
Cannabis prohibition has been sustained by these entities for decades now, pouring in billions of dollars to maintain the policy. However, all evidence suggest that legalization is the ONLY way you'd ever diminish the power of criminal cartels. The only way to eradicate their revenue streams is by "taking it from them" in a legal manner and undercutting their profit margins.
Drug prohibition is the denial of the human condition. We as humans like to "alter our brain chemistry". We drink, we smoke, we take drugs...this is who we are.
Drug prohibition clings to the idea that "people are pure and must remain so" however, this is wholly moralistic in nature and completely wrong. Since the dawn of modern man...we have been walking around eating plants and mushrooms and expanding our knowledge of the natural world.
However that's besides the point. The bottom line: There are few people who are turning a profit on the misery of the masses. It's time we change all that!

Hemp is one of the most versatile plants on the planet and has a rich history here in the US. From the first draft of the declaration of independence written on Hemp to being one of the first laws requiring you to grow hemp, this country wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for this plant!

Today however, it's lumped as a schedule I drug despite the fact that it has No potential for abuse and zero addictive qualities. You can't smoke hemp to get high. It's a plant that is solely used for industrial applications, yet despite this fact...it's still considered a drug.

Would you consider cotton a drug? How about corn?

While Drug Prohibition in its own right is truly anti-constitutional, the prohibition of hemp is a clear example of how the policy is skewed to benefit only a handful of people while the rest of us are stuck with the "bill".

It's time for a green revolution in the world of medicine and industry. It's time we embrace the power of hemp and start using it for its full potential. From making paper, clothes, food, housing, energy and much more...this plant can provide jobs and ease our mass consumption of our natural resources because hemp can provide a fresh new crop every year and grows virtually in every climate.

It's time to give Hemp another go in the US and the world!

BERLIN (Reuters Health) - Chemicals found in cannabis can significantly reduce the symptoms of Tourette's syndrome, study findings suggest.

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition characterized by uncontrollable facial grimaces, tics, and involuntary grunts, snorts and shouts.

Dr. Kirsten Mueller-Vahl of the Hanover Medical College in Germany led a team that investigated the effects of chemicals called cannabinols in 12 adult Tourette's patients.

In the study, each patient was given a single oral dose of d9-THC--the most psychoactive chemical in cannabis--calculated based on their body weight, sex, age and prior use of marijuana, or a dose of inactive placebo. Symptoms were measured after the first treatment, and compared to symptoms after the same patient was switched to the other pill. Neither the patient nor the investigator knew whether they were given a placebo or the active treatment first.

A single dose of the cannabinol produced a significant reduction in symptoms for several hours compared to placebo, the researchers report in the April issue of Pharmacopsychiatry.

"The effects were clear," Mueller-Vahl told Reuters Health. "What was also interesting was that some patients experienced far greater effects than others. Some had a great effect, some only (a small effect), and a few none at all. But generally, the level of tic activity was reduced as were the compulsions, such as to shout, spit or swear."

We have all heard about the wonders of 'non-psychoactive' cannabis juice and how beneficial it is to our health.

Originally shared by MarijuanaDoctors.com

We have all heard about the wonders of 'non-psychoactive' cannabis juice and how beneficial it is to our health. But what if I told you that there might be a way to make 'psychoactive cannabis juice' that can keep you high for 10 hours?

Most people think this isn't possible since you have to heat cannabis to convert THC-a to THC, however recently a Health Activist, who doesn't use cannabis for recreational purposes, discovered a recipe that unlocked the 'high' in Raw cannabis juice.

The activist, John Kohler, advocates raw food diets and have made several cannabis juice recipes in the past for its health benefits. This time around he wanted to make a power smoothie that would taste amazing and give him the rich cannabinoids he desires.

Here's what you need:

1. One Coconut, use the juice and the meat within the smoothie.
2. A fair amount of trimming/leaf (remove stems)
3. 6 Royal Mandarine Tangerines (most likely any citrus fruit would do)
4. Blend
5. Enjoy

The effect won't hit you quickly, give it an hour or two before the high sets on. Once high you'll stay that way for a good eight to ten hours.

Kohler, asked a friend with a high THC tolerance to try it as well and though skeptical at first, his friend said it was the 'best high he ever experienced...he doesn't want to smoke anymore'.

According to Kohler, while he doesn't understand how it happened, he believes that potentially there must have been a reaction between the cannabinoids (cbds) from the cannabis leaves, citric acid from the tangarines and MCTs from the coconut. Thereby extracting the psychoactive aspects of the plant and providing a slow delivery system within the body.

We'll be conducting our own experiments and verify whether this is true, but we also would like you to do the same. Let us know if this recipe worked for you!

Is there a Religious Case for Legalizing #Marijuana?

Originally shared by MarijuanaDoctors.com

Is there a Religious Case for Legalizing #Marijuana? To answer the question we can take a look at the Controlled Substance Act and specifically to #Mescaline and #DMT which are used by Native American tribes within Religious Ceremonies.

While both of these substances are Schedule I substances, they are legal for religious use by these tribes. An interesting side note, DMT is produced naturally within each and every one of us...we all are technically guilty of manufacturing and transporting this powerful psychedelic....

Back to #Cannabis. Within a religious context, cannabis was used for thousands of years to 'elevate spiritual perception' and was a key ingredient in the Holy Anointing Oils mentioned in the Bible. The same oil that anointed King David, the same oil that was used by Jesus.

Technically speaking, Cannabis forms a solid part of the Judeo-Christian tradition and as some churches in legal marijuana states are now using within their services. Rastafarians use it as a critical part of their religion.

Now, tying it all together.

If Native Americans can use psychedelics for Religious ceremonies without fearing jail, why can't those who use Marijuana for religious purposes obtain the same freedom?

For those who believe that 'God Made Everything' to prohibit marijuana would be to say that 'God made a mistake'. In other words, are those who staunchly opposing marijuana claiming that their Almighty God is fallible? Are they saying that God did not know what He was doing when he created Cannabis?

You can't claim to be a 'God Fearing' person and insult his creation by arresting people who are merely using the same plants God said we can use...

So I ask religious folk...are you serving God or G.O.D?

Recently research was published saying that 'cannabis helps with some conditions' but evidence is lacking for others.

Recently research was published saying that 'cannabis helps with some conditions' but evidence is lacking for others. In essence the study concludes, "We need more research" because there is variations in results from cannabis use.

One of the more interesting quotes from the study goes as follows:

"After reviewing 80 randomized trials that included nearly 6,500 people, researchers found moderate support for using marijuana to treat chronic pain and muscle spasms and involuntary movements.

The evidence wasn't as strong to support marijuana's use for nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy, sleep disorders, HIV-related weight loss and Tourette syndrome.

Also, any benefits of marijuana or cannabis use must be weighed against the risk of side effects, which include dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, sleepiness and euphoria, according to the study's lead author."

What was funny to me was that one should 'weight' the benefits against the risks...the risks being cotton mouth and the munchies....or the general feeling of being high.

But comparatively here are some of the 'Risks' involved with using common pharma meds:
Nausea, Dizziness, Rectal Bleeding, Kidney Failure, heart conditions, strokes, liver damage, rashes, fatigue, headaches and my favorite...SUDDEN DEATH.

Yes, we are supposed to merely accept these horrid side effects from pharma drugs because you know...their FDA approved...however when it comes to Cannabis..."We need more research".

Well...we would have HAD more research if the government didn't sow seeds of ignorance and stonewalled research for the past five decades.

Fortunately, the White House made it easier for research to be conducted so over the following years we'll get more clarity on what exactly cannabis can treat...and what it can't.

At least with cannabis you don't have to fear 'Sudden Death' or Rectal seepage....

The Federal Government, on several official websites have claimed that "Cannabis can cure cancer" and has plenty of other medical uses. READ MORE ( http://ow.ly/OTDrM )

This brings into the question the current scheduling of cannabis according to the Controlled Substance Act which claims it has "no medical value and a high potential for abuse".

Based on the recent admission of the Federal Government, the current status of #Cannabis should be changed immediately. Scientific evidence has shown that cannabis has plenty of medical benefit and in some cases is the only medicine that can actually "help" a patient.

To maintain the current scheduling is to slap Americans in the face, saying "your health is not important". It's saying that the individual liberties of Americans are not as important as the liberties of corporations that make money off prohibition.

Do not be mistaken...this is an aggression against the people. It's an insult to your own free will. It's a statement in its own saying that "You are not FREE!"

It's time we place more pressure on lawmakers, it's time that we campaign non-stop in order to secure the liberation of good medicine. It's time we repeal laws that were founded in lies and superstitions. It's time we look out for those who are afflicted with disease and discomfort.

It's time we let the government know that we won't tolerate their double standards...if we need so much research to legalize cannabis, why didn't we need any research to make it illegal...and why are we keeping the policy that has been proven to be unscientific and very destructive to society.

Hold your lawmakers accountable....it's your duty as a citizen.

A recent study conducted by Professor Vincent Lariviere from the University of Montreal’s School of Library and Information Science, and a number of other researchers, found that nearly all major scientific papers are controlled by the same six corporations.

“Overall, the major publishers control more than half of the market of scientific papers both in the natural and medical sciences and in the social sciences and humanities. Furthermore, these large commercial publishers have huge sales, with profit margins of nearly 40%. While it is true that publishers have historically played a vital role in the dissemination of scientific knowledge in the print era, it is questionable whether they are still necessary in today’s digital era,” Lariviere said.

The researchers sifted through tons of studies that were published between the years of 1973 and 2013 and found that the studies were overwhelmingly published by the same six publishers. The publishers named in the study are ACS, Reed Elsevier, Sage, Taylor & Francis, Springer, and Wiley Blackwell.

What does this mean for the #Cannabis community? It means that the information given to us is bias in nature. Funded by large corporations looking out for profit margins means that the information presented to us is tainted with money. These are the publishers that have created such a mass amount of disinformation surrounding the marijuana topic that millions were incarcerated for a plant!

The more you dig, the more you find. The system is corrupt and perhaps it's time to hit the #Reset button on the whole thing. Is it time for independent institutions to have their voice heard?

A Colorado financial institution is suing the federal government to be allowed to serve the state’s growing marijuana industry, according to a report in The New York Times.

The Federal Reserve earlier this month rejected the application from The Fourth Corner Credit Union in Denver, because it intends to provide banking services to state-licensed marijuana businesses.

The federal government still prohibits the use of marijuana, even though many states have taken steps to legalize recreational and medical marijuana.
In response, the Obama administration has loosened enforcement against many marijuana businesses that operate outside of federal law, but it has yet to lift a ban on banks dealing with these companies.

As a result, most banks do not open accounts for marijuana businesses, even if they are operating within states that allow it.

Critics say this is a public safety issue, because it places a target on the backs of marijuana businesses by forcing them to keep large amounts of cash in their stores.

The Fourth Corner Credit Union applied last November to become the first financial institution in Colorado to serve marijuana dealers, but the Federal Reserve rejected their application.

The credit union is now suing the government in federal court for “equal access” to the U.S. financial system, according to the report.

A new study reports that chronic marijuana use in teenage boys does not appear to be linked to later physical or mental health issues such as depression, psychotic symptoms or asthma. The study, published by the American Physiological Association, did not include teenage girls.

Researchers from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Rutgers University compiled data by tracking 408 males from adolescence into their mid-30s. The participants were placed into four groups based on their reported marijuana use: low or non-users, early chronic users, participants who only smoked during adolescence, and those who began using marijuana late in their teens and continued through adulthood. Early chronic users reported higher marijuana use, which increased in their teens to a peak of more than 200 days per year on average when they were 22 years old, the news release said.

The study was an offshoot of the Pittsburg Youth Study, which tracked 14-year-old male students in Pittsburgh public schools in the late 1980s, according to a news release. Participants were surveyed annually or semiannually, and a follow up survey was conducted in 2009-2010 when the volunteers were 36 years old.

Based on the results of prior studies, authors expected to find a link between teen marijuana use and the later development of psychotic symptoms, cancer, asthma or respiratory problems but found none, according to a news release.

“What we found was a little surprising,” lead researcher Jordan Bechtold, a psychology research fellow at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, said in the release. “There were no differences in any of the mental or physical health outcomes that we measured regardless of the amount of frequency of marijuana used during adolescence.”

Medical Marijuana to combat Obesity and Diabetes?

Medical Marijuana to combat Obesity and Diabetes?

Investigators from the Conference of Quebec University Health Centers studied 786 Inuit adults age 18 to 74 from the Arctic region and analyzed if there was a correlation between persons who use marijuana and those who didn't as it relates to body mass index (BMI) and insulin levels.

Now the common correlation is that marijuana gives individuals "the munchies," and as such the expected findings would be that marijuana users have a higher BMI and higher fasting insulin levels. But, the results of researchers' cross-sectional adult survey was far from what you'd expect.

As the study data showed, regular cannabis users had a BMI of 26.8 compared to non-users which had a BMI of 28.6, after researchers controlled for age, gender, and other important factors. But, the observed benefits transcended just users' BMI. Marijuana users in the study also had lower fasting insulin and lower HOMA-IR, which is a measure of insulin resistance. These results echo a study we previously examined that was published in The American Journal of Medicine suggesting marijuana may be effective in controlling type 2 diabetes.

Based on the findings, the study's authors came to this intriguing conclusion:

The inverse association [between cannabis use and BMI, fasting insulin, and HOMA-IR] observed in our work supports evidence from a larger population of previous cross-sectional and follow-up investigations... As a result, cannabinoids from cannabis may be viewed as an interesting avenue for research on obesity and associated conditions.

Today we look at the phrase, "Sending a Mixed Message about Drugs".

Originally shared by MarijuanaDoctors.com

Today we look at the phrase, "Sending a Mixed Message about Drugs".

This is the excuse many prohibitionists use to advocate prohibition. They claim that by legalizing marijuana, you will send a 'mixed' message about drugs. But what message is that?

We have legal drugs, both for medicine and recreation. The recreational drugs are far worse than most of the illegal ones. Except for the hard drugs like , crack, meth and heroine to name a few, illegal drugs make up for a fraction of drug related deaths. However, pharmaceuticals kill off a person every 19 minutes.

Tobacco slays nearly a half million people annually and alcohol is killing off roughly 80,000 people each year...not to mention playing a major factor in relation to violence and violent crimes.

So what is this "mixed" message we are sending 'young people'.

Is it, "It's okay to do drugs...as long as we say so?" or "It's okay to do drugs as long as they are government sanctioned?" or is it "You have the freedom to take drugs"?

You see, the Drug-Free Fallacy sits in the middle of this prohibitionist argument, it claims that America wants a "drug Free nation" however, this is not the truth. America, or at least the apparent leaders of the nation, do not want a Drug Free nation, but rather a "drug specific nation".

The drugs that you are allowed to take are mind-numbing, will-eroding substances that pacifies the masses. A drunk might be violent, but he lacks the critical thinking ability to make any real difference. The opiate user cannot resist. The commercial tobacco smoker is really committing suicide over time.

Cannabis, and other illegal drugs (not all) induce critical thinking. It warps perspective and makes you think 'outside' of the box.

So I guess the "mixed" message we are sending is, "Think for yourself" which is really scary for those in power.

Marijuana May Help Organ Transplant Patients By Delaying Rejection.

As the battle against the legalization of medical marijuana continues, a number of reasons have been put forward that actually explains the medical benefits associated with pot. Adding to the list of benefits, a latest study suggests that, Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, an active ingredient found in marijuana, can help delay rejection of incompatible organs in transplantation patients.

A team of researchers from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine found that THC successfully delayed the organ rejection in a group of mice. For the study, the researchers took two groups of genetically different mice. Skin graft from one group of mice was grafted on to another and vice versa.

While the first group was treated with placebo, the second group was exposed to THC. What researchers observed was strange and surprising at the same time.

"We are excited to demonstrate for the first time that cannabinoid receptors play an important role in the prolongation of rejection of a foreign graft by suppressing immune response in the recipient, said study co-author Mitzi Nagarkatti. "This opens up a new area of research that would lead to better approaches to prevent transplant rejection as well as to treat other inflammatory diseases."

Proving the point you should never discard THC as a powerful cannabinoid!
