There are over 400 chemical compounds that have been discovered within the Cannabis plant. The phytocannabinoids (or simply,” cannabinoids”) are the main chemical components that exert most of the pharmacological activity of the plant. There are more than 60 identified cannabinoids, but the 4 most well-studied and characterized cannabinoids are delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (d-9-THC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV).
