"The Globe and Mail purchased dried cannabis from nine Toronto dispensaries. The government considers these dispensaries to be illegal, and thus they are unregulated. The Globe was curious about how this cannabis would perform on the safety tests that are required of the 31 companies that Ottawa has permitted to grow and sell medical marijuana. The dispensaries were not informed the samples were being tested, and the lab was not informed which dispensaries the samples came from."
