Recently research was published saying that 'cannabis helps with some conditions' but evidence is lacking for others. In essence the study concludes, "We need more research" because there is variations in results from cannabis use.

One of the more interesting quotes from the study goes as follows:

"After reviewing 80 randomized trials that included nearly 6,500 people, researchers found moderate support for using marijuana to treat chronic pain and muscle spasms and involuntary movements.

The evidence wasn't as strong to support marijuana's use for nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy, sleep disorders, HIV-related weight loss and Tourette syndrome.

Also, any benefits of marijuana or cannabis use must be weighed against the risk of side effects, which include dizziness, dry mouth, nausea, sleepiness and euphoria, according to the study's lead author."

What was funny to me was that one should 'weight' the benefits against the risks...the risks being cotton mouth and the munchies....or the general feeling of being high.

But comparatively here are some of the 'Risks' involved with using common pharma meds:
Nausea, Dizziness, Rectal Bleeding, Kidney Failure, heart conditions, strokes, liver damage, rashes, fatigue, headaches and my favorite...SUDDEN DEATH.

Yes, we are supposed to merely accept these horrid side effects from pharma drugs because you know...their FDA approved...however when it comes to Cannabis..."We need more research".

Well...we would have HAD more research if the government didn't sow seeds of ignorance and stonewalled research for the past five decades.

Fortunately, the White House made it easier for research to be conducted so over the following years we'll get more clarity on what exactly cannabis can treat...and what it can't.

At least with cannabis you don't have to fear 'Sudden Death' or Rectal seepage....
