Nonetheless, the industrial applications of hemp was severely limited and through prohibition a new age of petrochemical products and other synthetics were born relying on fossil fuels as opposed to renewable resources. The very people who sponsored the prohibition initiative were the ones who benefited from the illegality of hemp, their monopoly was finally secure.
But why did they fear Hemp so much to begin with?

It is estimated that hemp has over 50,000 potential uses and could easily replace some of our most prominent industries today. For instance, when it comes to paper, Hemp is not only a quicker crop, it produces more paper per square acre than trees. In fact, Hemp was destined to take over the ‘paper industry’ completely prior to Marijuana Tax Act. Yet paper isn’t the only thing that hemp can do.
From plastics, fuel, clothing, food, housing, medicines and much more, Hemp is one of the most versatile planets on earth. Many of our unsustainable industries could be replaced with one solid green solution: Hemp.

We have only scratched the surface of the true potential of cannabis in general, we still have many hoops to jump through. Nonetheless, every year as a bit more of prohibition crumbles, the benefits of hemp become more apparent and as the floodgates are lifted, so we will usher in a new dawn of Cannabis/Hemp products.
